Wow Andi – this is so much like what I’ve been reading in “The Life You’ve Always Wanted” but John Ortberg. Right now I’m reading about “the hurry sickness” – we cram so much into our lives that we have no time for God and when we do – it’s on a schedule – we hurry and rush about – and don’t take time to think about what that does to us. It also suggests that we don’t spend time in solitude – which we truly need to do to connect with God completely. It’s made me think about my priorities and where I put God in my day. I’m now focusing on talking to God as much as I can and I’m also taking time every morning alone to read, sit quietly and listen to God and pray.

Happy Birthday Beans – It’s been fun watching you grow up – I remember the little girl who was so shy the first time we came to small group – you have grown so big now! I can’t wait to see how you grow in the future!

It isn’t too bad… just very, very time consuming. Two coats of primer, two coats of paint. Flip the doors and repeat. We still need to put a coat of poly on too.

okay–i know it’s not quite the same ’cause it involves a mix, but if you have safeways there–look in the produce section near the apples for a box labeled “apple crisp. a little butter cut into the mix, drizzled over freshly sliced apples and baked… oh my. cinnamon-y/apple-y yummy!

Applesauce (courtesy of Julia H.)
4lbs peeled/cored/sliced apples
1C water
1C sugar
1t cinnamon
6 hours on low or 3 hour on high
Mash with potato masher for chunky or food processor for smooth.
That made a quart and a half for us but we didn’t weigh the apples.

Crockpot Apple Butter (courtesy of Rachel N. of the Apple Barn)
8C applesauce
2C sugar
1t cinnamon
1/4t cloves
1/4C cinnamon hearts
5-6 hours on low. seal in jars. 4 1/2 pints.

Apple Barn suggests the following apples for saucing:
Rambo in August
Golden Delicious in September
Stayman or Rome in October

Thanks, Dan! I’ll look that up. Jeff reformats our computer about every 6 months, but he just backs everything up onto a different drive, so it wouldn’t be safe from the blue screen of death!
